To further its commitment to building and maintaining a fair, equitable, diverse, and accessible university community, the Office for Civil Rights Compliance and Prevention Education (CRCPE) offers a variety of highly engaging, customizable and practical workshops on university's anti-discrimination policies and procedures; the protections and accommodations for individuals with disabilities; prevention of sex and gender-based harassment and discrimination; and on conflict resolution. Please contact CRCPE to discuss your training needs.  

Americans with Disabilities Act: What Everyone Needs to Know

This workshop offers the participants basic understanding of the American with Disabilities Act as Amended and introduces the participants to the reasonable accommodations process at Virginia Tech.  This workshop is available by request. READ: Respect in Employment and Anti-Discrimination Compliance Training

This is a mandatory bi-annual training for all faculty, staff, and non-student wage employees of the university. All new employees must complete this training within the first 90 days from their start date.  Key information covered in this training include learning about the university’s anti-harassment and anti-discrimination policies, federal civil rights laws, complaint procedures, and employee reporting responsibilities.

Previously, employees could use PageUp LMS to register for either (1) a live training or (2) on-demand asynchronous training. This process resulted in some registrants unintentionally enrolling in live training. Beginning August 1, 2026, the option to sign up for a live training through PageUp LMS will be removed. This decision reflects the popularity of the on-demand version of the training and addresses confusion caused by permitting registration for live training through PageUp LMS. Administrators, managers, and supervisors will still be able to request live training sessions for their units that count toward the READ requirement by contacting the Office for Civil Rights Compliance and Prevention Education (CRCPE) at civilrightstraining@vt.edu.

If employees are currently in compliance with the READ training requirement, they do not need to take the training again. They will receive a notification from the LMS when it is time to renew their training. Training records from the past two years will be transferred to the new course. User completion schedules should not be interrupted.
